What is NHS Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) Services

NHS Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) is a service that allows you to order your repeat prescriptions online, by telephone or text message. It is available to patients registered with GP practices in England.

To use POD, you will need to know your NHS number and the name of your GP practice. You can order your prescriptions up to 28 days in advance.

If you are ordering your prescriptions online, you will need to create an account and provide some personal information. You can then add your repeat prescriptions to your account and order them when you need to.

If you are ordering your prescriptions by telephone or text message, you will need to call the POD number or send a text message to the POD number. You will then be asked to provide some personal information and the details of your repeat prescriptions.

POD is a free service and it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Here are some of the benefits of using POD:

  • It is convenient and easy to use.
  • You can order your prescriptions from anywhere, at any time.
  • You do not need to wait in line at your GP practice.
  • You can save time and money.

If you are registered with a GP practice in England, I encourage you to use POD to order your repeat prescriptions. It is a convenient, free and easy way to get the medication you need.
